Gucci Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, dedicated his vision to his twin mothers at Milan Fashion Week, for its SS23 Runway - featuring our Flag Twins.
Inspired by his mother and her twin, and fascinated by ‘the double’, Michele says: “they were able to comprehend life only through the presence of the other”,
Enter: “Gucci Twinsburg”.
After walking two separate runways divided by a wall of portraits, 48 sets of twins and doppelgängers joined hands with their partner for the Gucci Twinsburg finale. The moment echoed the inherent tension of twinship encoded in a doubled DNA - demonstrating otherness while celebrating an intimate togetherness.
“It means we are all the same and we are different,” underlining the compulsion individuals have, whether genetic duplicates living side by side or not, to feel part of that connective tissue that defines our common creative destiny.
